Mindanao Beaches Samal Island

Mindanao Beach, Samal Island, travel in the Philippines, Mindanao beach resorts, Mindanao beaches, Philippines beach, Cagayan de Oro beaches, Mindanao tourist spots.

Mindanao Beaches are legend, there are hundreds on Mindanao Island and the other smaller Philippine islands around.

A Mindanao Beach can be very diverse, at Samal Island beaches facing Davao are rather not attractive at all, why see the photos below. Travel in the Philippines sooner or later ends up in Mindanao beach resorts, they are often very "home grown" but not so bad. Mindanao beaches are all over the island but mainly the south and east side have nice sandy beaches (this is not absolute). The other is, a Philippines beach is not always a sandy beach e.g. Cagayan de Oro beaches, Iligan and at the north coast are rather stony beaches, not ideal Mindanao tourist spots when beaches are on the agenda. On the other hand, the best nature Mindanao tourist spots, means waterfalls etc. are at the Cagayan de Oro and Iligan area, so every part of Mindanao has its pro and contra.

It appears that the best Mindanao beaches

where there is no need to pay for visiting the beach are at the Zamboanga peninsular. Most beaches there are also easily accessible from the road, this accessibility is a real problem when trying to find a good beach at Zamboanga because there never are some road signs pointing to a beach, so how to find?

Since also any map of Mindanao is very rudimentary, its difficult to find anyhting, actually there is not even one real map - roadmap of the island which is at a modern standard everything is difficult to find. Why this bureaucrats in Manila don't do something useful for their country, there is not one country in south east Asia with

such bad maps only.

Anyway, they say the best beaches at the Philippines are on Boracay

which is true. but the island is totally overcrowded and Palawan, Bohol etc. But Zamboanga is definitely a hidden gem in the island and beach world of the Philippines.

Zamboanga Beaches

This southern part of Mindanao has a a beautiful Zamboanga beach scenery but almost no resorts or other hotels at the seaside. The most popular beaches are centered around Zamboanga City and the islands off the city.

Some of the best Zamboanga beaches are along the west coast easily accessed from the road Ipil to Zamboanga City. I would suggest to the authorities along the coast to make some signs at the road to pint to beaches, as present it is almost impossible to find the good beaches because nobody simply know them. A little sign maybe a hint to a restaurant at the seaside could produce a continuous stream of income.

Some of the most popular island beaches are on Samal Island at Davao

and there is the  Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort off the coast of Davao, this Philippine beach resort which has a good reputation and is considered as one of the best beach resort around Davao. Since Davao is also the main city in Mindanao and has the major airport which also is in the international routing mainly from Singapore Changi Airport a ideal place if you want to see and experience something different. This Mindanao Resort on Samal Island offers a lot of attraction such as 300m of white sand for many people coming down from Manila or from Singapore Changi Airport this island has a touch of paradise.

The cleanliness and maintenance of the up market resorts on the island is ok, others are quite basic, you don't have to struggle walking on broken shells and sharp stone's because they clean the shore for the guest.

The sapphire blue sea will take your breath away,

you can surely say it's worth a visit and to stay for a while, the Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort has a genuine native Philippine restaurant named the "Kananan", Kalagan word for 'a place to eat' they serve, snacks, refreshment, breakfast, lunch and dinner, they offer not only Filipino cuisine's but also international dishes, their specialty is Paella, you know this rice and seafood dish from Spain. While enjoying your dinner you can also listen to the in house band which will serenade you with their fine music, they also have a native convenience store, which is called 'Tinda'an' (really convenient). Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort also has a local Ice Cream Kiosk which has a wide variety of fresh tropical fruit juices, pearl and fruit shakes, frozen delights and other cool favorites. A Business Center is also available in the resort for your

emergency office needs, with some PC's and internet connection plus a photocopying machine. There is also a Kid's Playground. If the kids are bored of swimming around and decided to stretch some muscles, they have the Monkey Bars. A small aviary is also an attraction enjoying having a look to pheasants, pigeons, parrots, eagles, lories, lovebirds, doves and hornbills. There is also a recreational area with sport bar style billiard tables, ping-pong tables and beach volley ball. If this is not enough, ok try kayaking , pedal boat and aqua bikes, surely you will never be bored in this resort.

And if you want to say hello to the fish in their 'Dive Zone' you can enjoy swimming and diving with beautiful coral's and fishes. A variety of rooms are offered to get you what you want. Beside of the before mentioned beach resort most of the Mindanao Beach Resorts at Samal Island look like this, picture right. Samal island resorts are locked up, there is no way to enter, unless there is

a pre booking. Some allow to enter after a entrance fee between Peso . 50,- and 200,- is paid. This is very strange, actually the Philippines is the only country in the ASEAN where they ask for a entrance fee if someone wants to go to the beach, elsewhere beaches are public areas where everyone can walk.

Samal or Samal island is reachable from Davao via a ferry which works quite quick. Spending a few days at Samal Davao needs careful planning otherwise you might not enjoy it. The Samal beach at the west side facing Davao is partitioned and has one stone wall after the other where everyone marks his "claim". Behind the beaches runs the Samal Davao beach road, which looks like that.
